Pont Neuf is the city oldest bridge. Despite its name (New Bridge), this bridge is the oldest in Paris and has been immortalized by majro literary and artistic figures since it was built. The first store was laid by Henry III, but it was Henry IV who inaugurated it and give it its name 1607.
Conciergerie
Forming part of the huge Palais de Justice, the historic Conciergge served as a prison from
1391-1914. Henry IV's assassin, Francois Ravaillac was imprisoned and tortured here in 1610.
The Conciergerie has a superb four-aisled gothic hall, where guards of the royal once live. Revolution during the 19th cnetury, the building retians its 11th torture chamber, the Bonbec
Tower and the 14th century clock tower.
Notre-Dame
No other building epitomizes the history of Paris more than Notre-Dame. Built on the site of the Roman temple, the cathedral was commisisoned by Bishop de Sully in159.The first stone was laid in1163, amrking the start of the centuries of toil by armies of Gothic architects and medieval craftmen. It has been witnessed to great events of French history ever since. Extensive renovation were carried out in the 19th cantury by architect Viollet-le-Duc.
Eiffel Tower
Eiffel Tower is built for Universal Exhibtion on 1989, and to commemmorate the xxxx of the Revolution, the 320m(1051 feet) Eiffel Tower was emant to be a temporary addition to Paris skyline. Designed by Gustane eiffel, it was fiercely described by 19th century aesthetes. It stood as the world's tallest building until 1931, when New York's Empire State Building was completed.
