The long Ångerman River and Indal River cuts through the landscapes, and the Ångerman River is crossed by one of the world's longest suspension bridge, the spectacular High Coast Bridge. Children will enjoy the indoor water park in Örnsköldsvik and the Junsele Zoo, as well as Technichus in Härnösand. A must for the culture enthusiast is a visit to Gudmundstjärn, a large, formerly self-sufficient farm owned by the same family for over 165 years. Located just six kilometres south of Örnsköldsvik, Gene Fornby is a living, working Iron Age farm, carefully reconstructed to its former state. Standing near the spot where it once stood during the 500s, it offers a rare opportunity to experience the everyday life of an Iron Age family. Nämforsen in Näsåker has one of Northern Europe's largest collections of rockinscriptions from the Stone Age. Sundsvall is the largest town in the regíon with a well-developed cultural and commercial life. Visit Swedens first international casino or the interesting "Kulturmagasin", which is a culture centre museum, with a library and café. Sundsvall was rebuilt after a fire in 1888, and is now a modern thriving town with elegant, gracious buildings and wide boulevards. |
