Lausanne situated on the north shore of Lake Geneva, Lausanne was the site of thriving communities in the Bronze and Iron ages and had a population of several thousand when the Romans took it from the Celts in 47 B.C. , calling the place Lausonium.

The lovely 19th century residence is embedded in a beautiful public park. The Hermitage Foundation boasts a collection of paintings by foreign and local artists, including works by Bocion, Sisley, Degas, Magritte, Oudot and Plazzotta.
